There have been many action movies released that feature martial arts and this resulted to the much-hyped cult following of martial arts fans. However, fans of this discipline who are not aware of the big difference between real life combats and fantasy combats in movies get somewhat disappointed when a martial arts teacher tells them it takes years to master one martial art. Close Combat Training videos alone are designed for possible street attacks that are nothing like what many movies portray. For instance, a movie may portray a protagonist as being capable of taking down 15 attackers in a series of swift kicks and blows. In real life however, the wisest thing to do when faced with more than one attacker is to run to a crowded area if possible. If not, then basic self-defense moves are your best hope.

It is not enough to simply learn the moves taught by martial arts experts. It is also important to have the right mindset in the first place. When an individual looks too nervous and looks unsure and restless, this sends off a signal to attackers that they can easily maim the individual. Captain Chris teaches self defense enthusiasts that it is very important and even crucial to have a healthy sense of security and confidence so that your body language tells attackers that you are not going to let them take you down without a fight. Also, the proper mindset of self defense is to avoid trouble as much as possible and looking for one is just foolish and in contradiction to the very essence of self defense.
